CMAT exam is conducted by Tribhuvan University and, as you may expect, it is a gateway exam for the Masters in Business Studies (MBS) program offered in colleges offered by Tribhuvan University.

Overview of TU CMAT for MBS

Purpose of the CMAT Exam

The Common Management Admission Test is conducted to test the academic potential and ability of students who want to study MBS in Nepal. This form of exam tests the expressive, analytical, and language skills of students. As you may know, all three of these aspects are important for completing the postgraduate course of MBS.

The scores that you obtain in CMAT exams are then used by colleges like Campion College to shortlist students for their MBS program. This is generally done based on the academic merit of the students. Thus, it allows educational institutes to maintain standard admission criteria across many education courses.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for appearing in CMAT may vary slightly depending on the college or university. However, in general, you need to fulfill the following requirements:

Completed bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any university board recognized by TU

Should Have secured at least 45% marks in their bachelor’s degree

Should have appeared in the Preliminary Test Exam

You may also take the CMAT exam if you are in your final year of a Bachelor’s degree. Additionally, there is no age limit for CMAT exams.

The application process for CMAT

  • Check the fee amount on the portal
  • Submit the form
  • On successful submission of the application, you receive a unique CMAT registration number. You can then use this number to download the admit card at a later date.
  • Provide valid contact details while registering for further communication through SMS or Email.

Exam pattern for the CMAT

It comprises only multiple-choice questions covering four sections:

  • English Language and Comprehension: Tests vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, etc.
  • Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation: Tests numerical ability, data analysis, etc.
  • Logical Reasoning: Tests analytical reasoning skills and decision-making ability.
  • General Awareness: Current affairs, business knowledge, general science, etc.

  • Your name and registration number
  • Exam date, time, and venue details
  • Reporting time and instructions for exam day

You need to carry the admit card for the entire duration of the exam along with an approved photo ID proof.

Post-Exam Processes

Result and Merit List

Tribhuvan University releases the CMAT results online after examining the answer sheets. To check the results, you need to log in to the portal using your credentials. The result published on the portal shows the overall test score and the marks obtained. That said, there are no passing marks for CMAT. However, the higher you score, the better the chances of gaining merit-based benefits.

Counselling Process

If you are shortlisted from the TU CMAT for MBS results, you are called for the counseling process for seat allotment. During counseling, you must note the following aspects.

  • You are called in batches for document verification as per your merit rank
  • You can choose college and specialization based on your preference, CMAT score, and available seats
  • If you are on the waiting list, you will be provided with seats that the shortlisted students vacate
